Our Story

A family craft, passed down and built forward.

Customs By Shelton is built on four generations of woodworking knowledge and family tradition. While the craftsmanship has been passed down through generations, the current Knoxville operation was restarted by Morgan Shelton and his father approximately five years ago.

Morgan and his father built the South Knoxville shop from the ground up, equipping it with traditional woodworking machinery and the hands-on knowledge that comes from decades at the bench. Today, they continue to build custom cabinetry, millwork, interior doors, and furniture from raw materials in the shop they established together.

Unlike many cabinet companies that outsource doors, drawer fronts, and millwork components, we build nearly everything in-house using traditional woodworking equipment — shapers, custom tooling, and time-tested techniques passed down through the family.

Every project is custom-built specifically for each client and crafted to last for generations.

On-site, every project.

Decades of cabinetmaking experience guide every install — from final scribe and reveal to the last piece of trim. The shop's standards come from the bench, not a manual.
